Fons Rademakers’s
The Assault / De Aanslag
(1986)

Derek de Lint
Monique van de Ven
John Kraaykamp
An Introduction

|
Based on the 1982
Harry Mulisch book about the experiences of someone caught up in the the
horror of WWII and how that affects his life. The film has 5 episodes (1945,
1952, 1956, 1966 and 1981) with the
final chapter providing a realisation and understanding of the main
character's past. This is one of my favourite films whether it had a Cannon
logo slapped on it or not. A very moving film that was well directed and
produced. All concerned were at the top of their game hence the multiple
award winning status of the film. |
